All-India average retail price of onions has dropped by 60% since last year

All-India normal retail cost of onions has dropped by 60% this year to Rs 40 for each kg on convenient government mediations to help the inventory, Consumer Affairs Secretary Leena Nandan said on Thursday.


Addressing PTI, Nandan said there has been a sharp drop in onion costs the nation over.


"In one month alone, the all-India normal retail cost of onion has dropped by 33.33 percent to Rs 40 for each kg today from Rs 60 for every kg on November 30 this year," she said.


Since December 31, 2019, when the cross country normal cost was as high as Rs 100 for every kg, it has tumbled to Rs 40 for each kg presently, giving a lot of alleviation to buyers, Nandan said. continue reading….
