Modernization scheme for visas, immigration services extended for 5 years

The public authority drove by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has supported the continuation of the Immigration Visa Foreigners Registration Tracking (IVFRT) conspire past March 31, 2021 for a time of a long time from April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2026 with a monetary cost of Rs 1,364.88 crore, an authority proclamation said.

The task has a worldwide effort and looks to interlink and streamline capacities connecting with migration, visa issuance, enrollment of outsiders and following of their developments in India by covering 192 Indian missions across the globe, 108 Immigration Check Posts in India, 12 Foreigners Regional Registration Officers and workplaces and in excess of 700 Foreigners Registration Officers, Superintendents of Police/Deputy Commissioners of Police the nation over.


After the initiation of IVFRT, the quantity of visa and Overseas Citizen of India cards gave expanded from 44.43 lakh in 2014 to 64.59 lakh in 2019 at a Compounded Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 7.7 percent.


The normal visa handling season of 15 to 30 days (during pre-IVFRT period) has been decreased to a limit of 72 hours in e-visas, with 95% of e-visas gave inside 24 hours.


The global traffic to and from India developed from 3.71 crore to 7.5 crore during most recent 10 years at a CAGR of 7.2 percent, the assertion said.
